Best Friends Animal Society
Best Friends Animal Society is a leading national animal welfare organization dedicated to ending the killing of dogs and cats in America’s shelters. We partner with nearly 5,000 animal welfare groups across the country who run lifesaving programs. Best Friends has regional programs in Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, Northwest Arkansas, and Salt Lake City, and operates the nation’s largest no-kill sanctuary for companion animals. Founded in 1984, Best Friends is a pioneer in the no-kill movement, helping reduce the number of animals killed in shelters nationwide from an estimated 17 million per year to around 378,000. Despite this progress, approximately 1,000 dogs and cats are still killed every day in shelters simply because they do not have a safe place to call home. We are determined to bring this number to zero in 2025. By working collaboratively with shelters, rescue groups, other organizations, and supporters like you, we will end the killing and Save Them All. Thank you for everything you do for homeless pets.
